VOYAGE OF THE SOUTHERN SUN Q&A SCREENING AT DENDY
Voyager of the Southern Sun follows Australian Geographic’s Adventurer of the Year 2016 Michael Smith as he discovers the delights and perils of true adventure in a solo circumnavigation in his tiny amphibious flying boat, Southern Sun, that retraces historical Qantas, Imperial and Pan Am airmail routes in search of the glory days of 1930’s aviation.
Flying from cities to forests; deserts and rivers; over mountains and volcanoes; coral reefs, vast stretches of oceans; ice flows and glaciers; oh, and giant rats – watch Michael embark on his journey of the world in the first (and only) solo circumnavigation by flying boat of all time.
Speaking of his journey Michael Smith said ‘The journey was the trip of a lifetime. I find the idea of 1930’s era flying boat travel very romantic, even if my small two seat plane has none of the luxuries that passengers once enjoyed!’
Directed by Rob Murphy, the film features stunning footage, tales from around the word and insight into the high’s and low’s from a record breaking and award-winning voyage.
