Monster Pictures, Australia’s only cult cinema specialist distributor and the people behind Monster Fest, today announces the official launch of its community hub website, Cult of Monster.com, a site it plans to grow into the No.1 destination for cult movie fans on the planet. To celebrate, it’s holding an open-door Christmas extravaganza, complete with a Melbourne city-wide treasure hunt, for its legion of fans.

“There’s a few websites around the place dedicated to cult cinema, but none see the world quite like Monster see the world,” explained Neil Foley of Monster Pictures.

“This is not your run-of-the-mill news and reviews kind of site, it’s first and foremost about content, much of which will be video, and it’ll be loud, brash and bold, just like the Monster brand. If it’s sedate ruminations on superheroes and the like you’re after, then maybe Cult of Monster is not for you, but if you want engaging, eclectic content, designed for cult movie nuts, then get on board for the ride of your lives!” he continued.

“Cult of Monster is a weird hybrid of a site.  It’s part video magazine, part blog, part events calendar and part video-on-demand platform – a one-stop-shop for genre cinema aficionados,” says Monster Pictures Content Director, Jarrett Gahan.

“We wanted to build a gathering point for fans – a site that looks at the cult cinema universe through the eyes of the Monster. You’ll get all the critical info on what’s being released, when and where, but it’s also very much about the who – who’s making it, who’s releasing it and most importantly, who’s engaging with it,” he explained.

“We’ve been rolling out content initiatives since our soft launch in October but things are about to really ramp up in the coming weeks and months. Expect web-series, podcasts, mini-docs, specialty segments and more. If you’re a fan of cool genre cinema, and the culture surrounding it, then I implore you to join the Cult!”

The Cult of Monster official launch will take place from 2pm on Friday the 16th of December, starting with a city-wide treasure hunt, beginning at the Lido Cinemas Hawthorn, and culminating in an open door Christmas celebration, with food, drink, trivia and more for Monster fans.
