KILLING GROUND SELECTED FOR SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL

Mushroom Pictures is delighted to announce that Damian Power’s highly anticipated feature film debut Killing Ground will hold its International Premiere at the Sundance Film Festival 2017.

The film will screen as part of the Midnight sidebar. The Midnight section is a special showcase of the most challenging but rewarding film experiences from around the world. Midnight has launched films including The Babadook, The Blair Witch Project, SAW, The Witch and Hard Candy.

Killing Ground is an edge-of-your-seat survival thriller that stars Aaron Pedersen (Goldstone, Mystery Road), Harriet Dyer (Love Child, Rueben Guthrie), Ian Meadows (Scare Campaign, The Wrong Girl), Aaron Glenane (Molly, Deadline Gallipoli), Maya Stange (Wolf Creek TV, Love Child).

Power commented: “I can’t wait to unleash Killing Ground on the crowd at Sundance Film Festival. It’s hugely exciting to have our international premiere where so many of my favourite filmmakers got their starts. And I’m thrilled to be screening in the Midnight section because it always has the most enthusiastic and committed audiences.”

Power has written and directed several award-winning shorts that have screened at festivals worldwide including Venice, Busan, Sydney and MIFF, as well as online as part of YouTube/Scott Free’s inaugural Your Film Festival.

Killing Ground had its World Premiere at the 2016 Melbourne International Film Festival where it was described as ‘intense’, ‘unnerving’, ‘supremely suspenseful’, ‘shocking and fresh’.

The film was produced by Joe Weatherstone and Lisa Shaunessy and will be released in cinemas in 2017 by Mushroom Pictures.

Synopsis:

Killing Ground is the story of Ian and Samantha who go camping in a national park over the summer break. They arrive at an isolated campsite to find an SUV and a tent, but no sign of the occupants. As night falls and the campers fail to return, Ian and Sam grow increasingly uneasy. A surprising discovery in the bush unleashes a terrifying chain of events that test the young couple to breaking point.
