HOMEGROWN AUSTRALIAN TALENT WIN “GOLD AWARD” AT “NEW YORK INDIE FILM AWARDS” AND “BEST COMEDY” AT “SYDNEY INDIE FILM FESTIVAL”

Dr. Weird a funny and sweet short film is taking local and International film festivals by storm by winning “Best Comedy” at the “Sydney Indie Film Festival”; a “Gold Award” for “Best Short Film” at the “New York Indie Film Awards”; Semi-Finalists at “Los Angeles Cinefest” and “LA Lift-Off Online Festival” with a  superhero spoof comedy put together by a small dedicated, young, struggling, but extremely talented group of filmmakers.

Directed by Robert Fantozzi and Conor Woods and starring Ashleigh Stewart and Rob Stanfield, these artists in their early 20s – with no support from funding bodies or industry professionals and relying purely on their love of film, as well as their wit have created a winning combination.

On Friday 24th March 2017 the team’s second short film AutoCarrot won the top prize at the inaugural “Warrandyte Film Feast” and has been selected as  Finalist in three categories in the “Setting Sun Film Festival” at the Sun Theatre in Yarraville in April 2017  – “Best Comedy”, “Best Short Film Metro” and “Best Film”.

This up and coming group of filmmakers deserve more than a sideway glance and are definitely on the road to serious stardom.  Check out AutoCarrot at the “Setting Sun Film Festival” at the Sun Theatre in Yarraville  April 27th – 30th 2017.
