The tick has come to us in many forms over the years. Ben Edlund’s parodic superhero was naturally, a comic book character back in the day, making his first appearance as a mascot for a chain of comic shops before leaping into the pages of his eponymous indie black and white series.
From such little things, big blue things grow: The tick starred in his own (pretty darn great) cartoon from ’94 – ’96, an all too brief live action series in 2001, starring the great Patrick Warburton, and now a brand-spankin’ new live action series from Amazon, featuring Brit comedian Peter Serafinowicz as the titular hero.
The pedigree is pretty sound. Creator Ben Edlund is writing all 10 episodes, and the whole thing is directed by Wally Pfister, Christopher Nolan’s regular DOP. Plus, Serafinowicz is funny as all hell in pretty much anything. August 25 – mark the date
