Get a Sneak Peek: A Morsel of This Year’s Inner West Film Fest Program!

The 2nd Inner West Film Fest [IWFF] has announced the first five films from this year’s program, including actor and director Faouzi Bensaïdi’s comical road film, DÉSERTS, which premiered at the Cannes Director’s Fortnight; and the Australian premiere of DRUGSTORE JUNE, co-written, produced and starring comedian Esther Povitsky, with a side-splitting support cast, including Beverly D’Angelo, James Remar, Haley Joel Osment, Bobby Lee and executive producers Bill Burr and Al Madrigal, in this satire promising to leave audiences grinning (and groaning) from ear to ear!

ACMI, coinciding with the Australian cinema release of Marvel Studios’ latest Taika Waititi-directed blockbuster Thor: Love and Thunder, is now exclusively showing incredible costumes and props worn by the all-star cast in its free centrepiece exhibition The Story of the Moving Image.

MELBOURNE CINÉMATHÈQUE’S NEW PROGRAM TO OPEN WITH DOUGLAS SIRK AND CLOSE WITH MUSICALS

The Melbourne Cinémathèque reveals its program for the second half of 2022, opening with Douglas Sirk and closing with musicals. The program screens at ACMI from 24 August – 21 December, showcasing a breadth of films from early German expressionism to contemporary Cannes winners, including provocative European masterpieces and films exploring gender, sexuality, activism, and non-conformity. Films screen in 35mm prints, 16mm prints, and new restorations.
