CinefestOZ have announced that they’ll be naming two Screen Legends this year, with both Scott Hicks and Jacqueline McKenzie being recognised for their outstanding contributions to the Australian film industry.
McKenzie (Romper Stomper, Angel Baby, Don’t Tell) appears in two films at this year’s festival, Ben Elton’s music-centric rom-com, Three Summers, and well as John V. Soto’s SF drama, The Gateway, while Hicks, the director of such lauded films as Shine, Snow Falling on Cedars, and The Boys Are Back, is chairing this year’s CinefestOZ Film Prize Jury.
On being named, Hicks said “I’ve been many things, but never a Legend before! I’m profoundly honoured to receive this recognition from CinefestOZ, and to join the distinguished company of previous recipients.”
CinefestOZ is on in Western Australia’s Busselton/Margaret River area from August 23 – 27. For full details, shoot over to the official site.
