Australian director Cate Shortland will direct The Monaro, an eight part true crime series set in the 1830s, for Matchbox Pictures.
IF is reporting that the project will take her back to the eponymous region near the Snowy Mountains, where she shot her first feature, Somersault, in 2004.
Details are thin on the ground at the moment, but apparently the long-in-gestation project is based on an idea that first occurred to Shortland in film school.
Shortland’s next film, the Germany-set Berlin Syndrome starring Teresa Palmer, is out on April 20.
