The Devil’s Candy Trailer

The greatest trick the devil ever pulled...

The Devil’s Candy may not have an Australian release date, but it does have a creepy AF new trailer.

Director Sean Byrne’s long-awaited follow-up to The Loved Ones is a riff on classic haunted house tropes, and by riff we mean a sludgy, doomy power chord – the soundtrack is by Sunn O))), and one of the focal characters is Ethan Embry’s tattooed, bedraggled struggling artist, who looks like one of Rob Zombie’s toenail clippings grew into a homunculus and paid its way through art school as a roadie.

Indeed, The Devil’s Candy looks like the sort of film ol’ mate Zombie always tries to make – a note-perfect synthesis of classic horror formalism and the power and breadth of metal, designed to tap into your primal monkey brain even as it scares the bejeezus out of you. The film has done very well on the festival circuits and earned good notices from the critics – with any luck we’ll be getting word of a wide local release sooner rather than later.
